NHRA Virginia - 04.23.2007
We'd like to extend a big congrats to Eggum Raciing for there consistent performance this weekend at the NHRA Virgina Sport Compact Nationals. Stephanie piloted the car to consistent 8.0's throughout qualifying. This was good enough for #1 qualifier, with a 8.073@183.62, and to reset the track record, twice!
Eliminations came and went unopposed all the way into the finals. Round 1 was a bye but they still put it to the wood and laid down a 8.036@182.581 Final round brought opponent Kenny Tran into the other lane for what was to be an exciting race. Kenny laid it down with 8.08@181 to Stephanie's 8.05@181 with Tran taking the win on a hoeshot.
Congrats to Jeromie, Stephanie, and the rest of the Eggum Racing crew on a spectacular performance!

Showdown goes 8's! - 09.18.2006
Bill Lowe in the Showdown Racing Talon went out to Battle of the Imports at Route 66 raceway this weekend. After running a couple very low 9 second passes he ran a 8.97@162mph in the semi-finals and was promptly kicked out! I guess an IHRA license isn't good enough at an NHRA track.
The Showdown Talon is using our DSM Divided T4 manifold with a GT42 turbo. Be sure to check out photos of there car in our customer gallery!
Congrats to the Showdown Racing team!

NDRA Maryland Race Report - 09.07.2006
Better late then never!
What a weekend! Friday came and I had a million things to get done and for once the car was loaded up and John was actually ready to leave on time. Guess who was running late! John got the tranny fixed in the truck and we are hoping it stays together for the trip. Will it stay together? Who knows and we say "Fuck It" and Eric gave it hell. Eric kept a good pace most of the way and just before Washington D.C. we came across a monstrous Mad Max looking tow rig heading down the highway, the Showdown Racing rig. Bill gave us a toot of his monstrous air horns as we freight trained by him. Ourselves and the Showdown crew arrive at the eery entrance to MIR around 1:30am only to pull in behind Daryl Hudson who is parked outside the gates. A mini pre-race DSM Racer reounion begins and the beer starts flowing, until 5am. UGH.
Saturday morning comes early. The sound of fart cannons and diesel trucks brings an end to our short lived shut eye. We find our pit spot and start to get situated for Saturdays qualifying activities. The heat and humidity starts setting in later in the morning, it's going to be a hot sticky miserable weekend.
Round 1 brings an excellent start for the Shearer Fab sponsored cars of Daryl Hudson and Bill Lowe and an equally impressive start for the Shep Racing team. Bill took the top spot with a 9.3@158mph with Daryl Hudson hot on Bill's heels with a 9.427@148mph. We decided to leave the bottle out of the Shep Racing Talon for the first round to make sure everything was still in good working order from the Shootout. Right off the trailer John put up the number, an 8.07@178mph, to put us in the top spot.
Round 2 of qualifying came and we decided to sit this one out, but some excellent numbers were posted from some fellow racers. Gary Gardella came to the line and knocked us off the top spot with an impressive 7.86@186mph, amazing peformance for the weather! Chris Rado in his fresh Scion Tc has continually been getting faster and layed down an impressive 8.1@175. Daryl Hudson and Bill Lowe also decided to sit this round out.
Round 3 comes and we want that #1 spot back. The nitrous went back in the car to see what we've been missing out on the last few races. The lights drop and the car leaves like it's on a mission and trips the 60' beams sideways "Drifter D" style in 1.25 seconds. John is driving his ass off and the timing lights reveal a 7.854@182.28. A new personal best for John and puts us back in the number 1 spot! We're excited, the crowds excited, other teams are excited, everyone is happy! Jason Hunt is up next in the team CSI Matco Tools, GM sponsored Cobalt, an absolutely wicked machine. The time comes to fire up the car and it won't start. Everyone has there fingers crossed as they keep cranking away and it's not looking to promising. Seconds before they get time out the beast fires and is ready to make a pass. First round did not go to well for the team so this round can only be better, as long as the car stays running. They stage the car and it motors away, like a pissed off freight train, as the lights drop. 7.631@194.60, god damn that thing is fast!
Sunday comes and Round 1 brings us a bye run. And what I saw that round, my eyes couldn't believe. John actually took it easy going down the track, 13.7@101! Hunt had a bye run as well, Gardella defeated Jimmy Jones, and Rado defeated himself as he red lit on a bye run. Bill Lowe and Daryl Hudson both advanced to the next round. Daryl ran another 9.4, unfortuneately he wounded a motor and would be finished for the weekend.
Round 2 eliminations comes and the Shep team is paired up against Gardella. Multiple times we've lined up against Gary and have yet to beat him in a side by side race. Gardella's Cobalt is fast, consistent, and a tough competitor. Needless to say we're excited to run Gary, as the car is running good , and nervous at the same time. We rush to get the car through the water box and the tires cleaned off to get John up to the beams in a timely fashion. John gets the car in pre-stage as Gary is creeping ino the beams. Both cars get in pre-stage, John bumps all the way in and Gary looks like he dragged the brake a little hard as his Cobalt lurches into the second bulb. The lights drop and both cars leave with a quickness. John looks like he is out front and is pulling away, the car drifting all over the track like it's on an ice rink. We're jumping around like bunch of little schoolgirls at the starting line. The boards light up with the win light on our side, hot damn! 7.812@185. to Gary's 8.08@185. Damn we're happy! Another personal best for the weekend, and new 4 cylinder AWD record, and a win against gary. Damn we're happy! Bill Lowe took the win to advance to the finals in Pro/4 running another mid nine second pass, 9.5@158mph passing his competition with ease. This pairs him up with #2 qualifier Harry Sohn in the finals.
Final Round comes and we have to run Jason Hunt in the finals. We're excited, we've had an exceptional weekend and regardless of the outcome of this race we're going home happy. It would be nice to beat the Jason and the CSI Cobalt though. The time comes and both cars are creeping into the beams at an equal pace. Both lanes light the second bulb at the same time and the bulbs drop. Hunt leaves the line without flaw while John got caught up in the rapid rate of the staging process and bogged the car slightly. Hunt freight trains to a 7.69@195mph. Everytime I'm amazed by watching this car go down the back half of the track, it accelerates like few other vehicles I've seen. John still ran a very quick 8.25@185 despite the launch, but it wasn't enough to hang with Hunt's Cobalt. Bill Lowe had to race hary Sohn's low nine second Del Sol in the finals. Both cars had less than stellar passes and was like watching two gimps, each missing a leg, race to the finish line. Bill broke an axle right off the line and had a hairy ride down the track. Everytime the car came in boost it would shoot toward the wall, Bill had his hands full keeping the car in check and going where it was supposed to go. Featheringthe throttle and drivinge the car like a mad man, Bill motored by Harry who had problems further down the track. 11.06@130 to a 11.75@100. A big congrats to Bill for the win and for taking home the J&E Pistons prize money for the lowest E.T. and highest MPH in his class. What a weekend!
Pics and Video can be found here.
My fingers hurt, that is all.

Javier goes 10.5@138! - 09.07.2006
I'd like to extend a congratulations to Javier Ortega for getting some good passes under his EVO's belt. After clicking off a couple low 11 second and high 10 second passes he finished the night off with a 10.5@138.60mph! Not bad for a car that is heavier than a stock Evo 8! Javier is using our Divided T4 Evo Manifold with a GT40r.

Preparing for the DSM Shootout - 08.14.2006
Every year it never fails. The last five days leading up to Shootout weekend brings out the procrastinator in everyone and it is a mad rush to get everyones car done
This years Shootout weekend started out later than usual for me. The typical last minute shit lasted all week. Somehow I survived 3 all nighters trying to get orders wrapped up for those I knew would be attending and helping friends finish there cars.
I'll start with Wednesday since the Sunday/Monday/Tuesday rush has all blended together at this point and I don't have the energy trying to remember the details. 10pm Wednesday comes and off to Sheps I go to help with some minor junk with the car. John and Eric had busted there butts all week to get the engine changed after the failure at Atco along with a bunch of other junk that needed finished up. Brent Rau is in town and arrived at John's earlier in the week to attend the Shootout and put a show on for the fans. A good nights work commenced, well for us anyway. We managed a good solid 10 minutes worth of work to every 30 minutes of BS'ing and goofing around, not a bad average for us. 5:30am Thursday morning comes and it's time to head home. 10am comes and my alarm clock is blowing up in my ear and I'm back in the grind of things.
Thursday brought a flurry of activity at the shop. JP and Dan are running around doing errands, finishing up a display engine, organizing shirts to give away, and helping out friends and local customers to get there hoopties finished up for the weekend. Around midnight we lock up the doors and I stay to get some some more work finished.
7pm Friday comes and I finally wrap up my 33 work session and head down to Sheps to help finish up the remaining last minute tasks and head out to Wakeman. Upon arriving Brent has his car about ready to go and not much later he is off. Somehow we don't manage to leave until 2:30am. Thank goodness this only happens for this event.
I'll finish up the shootout report tomorrow...

NDRA Atco Report - 08.01.2006
This weekend was a mix of ups and downs. After getting a very late start on the road the tow pig popped an endtank off the intercooler on the way to the race. Shep pedaled the truck to a rest stop a few miles up the road. After figuring out what the problem was we ripped the I/C out and fixed it on the spot. The look on peoples faces was priceless watching us do this at 2am. Turbo diesels get pissed when they don't have boost! I assumed driving duties after and we arrived at Atco Raceway about 7:45am, just in time for the gates to open!
Round 1 qualifying went well and John managed a 8.05@181 right off the trailer. This put us third on the ladder in the Pro FWD class and backs up his previous record of 8.06. We decided to park it for the afternoon.
First round of eliminations come Sunday afternoon and we have a bye run. The prior evening we made some suspension adjustments to help the car 60' better. We had Gardella in the next round so it was decided to give the car a 1-2 pull and save whatever we had for Gary. Well I guess when the car feels that good, it's hard to get off the throttle. John ran an 8.13@177 with the motor letting go before the traps. A defective wrist pin is the suspected point for the failure.
A bummer end to what started out as a decent race weekend. We'll see everyone at the DSM Shootout in 2 weeks!
Take Care,
ron

NDRA New York Report - 07.24.2006
An uneventful drive out there lead to a somewhat uneventful Saturday as the days activities were rained out. Sunday morning came was full of blue skies and all classes got only one shot at qualifying.
Saturday afternoon we initiated the 12 step program to get John away from the big blue bottle, so I pulled the bottle out of the car. On the first hit right off the trailer John managed a 8.77@180 with a bog off the line. Hot damn that is good MPH! Mike Reichen and Bill Lowe were in attendance with there Shearer Fab sponsored cars and locked down the #2 & #3 qualifying spots, respectively, in Pro4 Cylinder. Mike qualified with a 9.77 on boost alone.
First round brought the Shep Racing Team a bye run and we gave it hell. 8.06@181mph! That is a new non-n2o record by a long shot. We were quite ecstatic.
Second round came and we're paired up with Gardella Racing's Cobalt. It started out as an awesome race and I think we had him edged out by a nose at the 330' when a back fire happened and Gary took the win. Still there is no explanation for teh mishap. Mike and Bill got paired up in the 2nd round of eliminations. Mike broke in glorious fashion and Bill continued onto the finals taking a runner-up to none other than Marco Passante in his methanol breathing rocket. I'm glad to see Marco has come out from his retirement! A big Congrats to Mike, Bill, and Marco.
Shearer Fab built Reichen a custom 321ss header to hang his 70mm GT42 and liquid-air intercooler set-up. And Bill Lowe is using our Top Mount GT42 manifold.
Prior to heading home Marco and Slappy filled our belly's with some mouth watering Spieducci and Lamb chops. To those that don't know, it's damn good! Halfway home I broke the input shaft on the transmission of John's truck. We were stuck on the side of the highway for a few hours as we waited for Steve to come to the rescue. Sorry John. :( Overall it was a great weekend though!
Take Care,
ron

EVO vs. WRX Shootout Report - 06.20.2006
Congratulations to Yusuf Begic and Al Friedman for their successful weekend at Buschur Racing's EVO vs. WRX event.
Yusuf managed to win the EVO Eliminator class, running several mid and high 10 second passes with a failing alternator. Having to charge the battery in between rounds and pedal the car the entire way down the track, it was a win well deserved. Perseverance pays off!
Big Al Freidman ran a new best of 9.7@145mph fighting several issues all weekend. Another hard working effort that paid off in the end. Al's Dynoflash EVO is sporting a Shearer Fab EVO T4 manifold with a small GT42 strapped to it. Congrats to you Al, another success that is well deserved.
